“Ram on Cliffs’
Hand carved bowl fresh out of the kiln, ready for a coat of colorful glaze.
Pottery
All pottery is created by hand here at Nordic Night Studio located deep in the quiet forests of Alaska.
From a raw wet lump of earth, we transform each piece into a functional, stunning and unique treasure you will find no where else.
Each stage of the creative process, from throwing, glazing and carving, is done completely by hand. Our studio does use cast reproductions, nor do we settle on a set color scheme or design.
Each and every piece is unique in shape, color and subject. This means that the piece you hold in your hand is truly an original, made especially just for you.
While we like to hone a small part of our focus to reproduce some of our more requested designs, each piece still retains a unique individuality, as no form or subject can possibly be carved the same way twice.
In the true spirit of artful evolution, we are constantly pushing the concept of form, function and color possibilities. Uniquely inspired by the forest and wildlife that surrounds us, and as the seasons change, our focus shifts within.
From collecting raw clay from a site a moose just passed through, a beaver chewed branch discovered during a hike, or a shed caribou antler left on the tundra, inspiration is all around us. We strive to incorporate these raw materials into our work and allow that energy to pass through to you by harnessing the spirit of this Alaskan wilderness we call home.
If a certain piece catches your eye here on our website, or in our Talkeetna gallery, we encourage you to claim it for yourself. Our pottery pieces don’t last long in our shop and you may not see these designs, forms or color schemes come around ever again.
